Profile

A top-order left-handed batsman, Dimuth Karunaratne made his first-class debut for the Sinhalese Sports Club in 2008, where he started off with an impressive fifty. After scoring heavily on the domestic front, Dimuth finally earned a call-up to the national side in 2011, as he was included for the ODI and T20I sides against England. He then went on to make his first international appearance in the 5th ODI at Manchester. The following year, he was named in the Test squad for Sri Lanka’s series against New Zealand as replacement for injured Tillakaratne Dilshan. Karunaratne had a mixed debut, scoring a duck in his 1st innings, while smashing an unbeaten half-century in the second.
