With tons of experience with the South African side, Rob Walter has turned into a known name in Protea cricketing circles of late. He has enjoyed a six-year long stretch as fitness trainer of the South African national side. He stayed with the side as the conditioning coach until the Champions Trophy in June 2013. Having worked alongside Gary Kirsten and the likes of Allan Donald, he built up a very good reputation for himself. He had applied at South African domestic side, Titans for its head coach's position a few years back. However, the job went to Mathew Maynard who finally bid adieu to the side in 2013. Walter got into contention once again and beat 19 other applicants to the job which included names like Grant Flower and Craig McDermott. His first assignment for the Titans was the Champions League in 2013 for which Titans had qualified.
