A 19-year old Jasprit Bumrah grabbed instant limelight when on the Indian T20 League debut; he finished with figures of 3-32 against the Bangalore franchise. While doing so, he became only the second bowler in the side to pick three wickets on debut. The teenager was signed by the Mumbai for the sixth season of the Indian T20 League in 2013, with just 10 first-class matches in his bag.
A right-arm medium pacer from Gujarat with an unusual bowling action, Bumrah made his T20 debut against Maharashtra in the 2012-13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and also helped his side clinch the title with his Man of the Match performance. His figures of 3/14 were instrumental to Gujarat’s win over Punjab in the final. The youngster was quickly offered a lucrative Indian T20 League contract, and Mumbai used him as a secret weapon in their very first game of the tournament. The subsequent year, he was again bought by Mumbai for a whopping 1.2 crores for the 2014 edition of the Indian T20 League.
