This lanky right-arm medium pacer hails from the cricketing backwaters of Uttar Pradesh. Deepak Chahar made his first-class debut for Rajasthan in 2010. His natural ability to bowl an out-swinger was first spotted by Aakash Chopra. After being left out of the Under-17 and Under-19 teams, he finally bagged a place in the Rajasthan Ranji team in the 2010- 2011 season.
Chahar grabbed a lot of eyeballs in his debut itself when he sent back Hyderabad at a marginal score of 21, claiming 8 wickets in the first innings and then bagged 4 wickets in the second. Tarak Sinha, Chahar’s coach believed he developed all the qualities that a fast bowler looks to imbibe – speed, rhythm, good run-up, etc. He often drew parallel comparisons with Pakistani pacer Waqar Younis and Indian seamer Manoj Prabhakar. Chahar was signed by the Rajasthan Royals in 2011 for the fourth edition.
