Profile

Bazid Khan is a Pakistani cricketer who comes from a cricketing family. His grandfather was Jahangir Khan who played for the undivided India, and his father is the great cricketer Majid Khan, who played for Pakistan. His uncles are Imran Khan and Javed Burki, and so it was only natural for Bazid Khan to take up cricket!

He is a right handed batsman who bowls part time off spin. In this day and age of T20 cricket, he is more compact than most of his contemporaries and that has helped him score a huge number of runs in the first class cricket. In the 2003-04 season he averaged more than 70 with the bat and that won him a place in the Pakistani national ODI side. Playing as an opener, he scored only 12, and followed it up with a duck in the next match. He did score a fifty against West Indies in his third ODI but the chances were few and far between after that. In the interim period, he also played in his debut Test against the West Indies, but did not score too much and was dumped again.

Now with the retirements and injuries to many a player in the Pakistan team, he seems to be working his way back into the team, as he was chosen in the 2008 home series against Bangladesh, where the selectors gave many players opportunity. At least it shows that Bazid is not totally off their radar.
