The World fashion stage is embracing ethical fashion, and Manipur is part of the movement. Imphal's fashion designers are transforming their designs and supply chains to reflect a commitment to ethical labor practices and sustainable materials. Eight designers from the state showcased their products at the Fashion Revolution Fashion Show. Organized by the Made for Freedom, the mega fashion parade titled 'Fashion Revolution Fashion Show' was held in capital Imphal under the canopy of Asha, the acclaimed fashion designer from Canchipur district. The rich traditional clothes with feel good factor by eight designers from the state were showcased gracefully by 60 models, including 15 transgenders.
A large number of people from different age groups gathered to witness the extravagant event. Showcasing the exquisite ethnic tradition in a similar manner, a beauty pageant titled 'Meetei Chanu 2016' was also conducted on the 3rdFoundation day of Laningthou Sanamahee Sanapung in Imphal. 42 participants from different parts of Imphal city and neighboring places participated in the beauty pageant. Linthoi Wahengbam of Keishampat was adjudged Miss Meetei Chanu 2016 who won a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Khuman Chanu Warepam Baleshwori and Urmila Shagolsern finished 1st runners-up and 2nd runners-up and were awarded with a cash prize of 30,000 and 20,000 rupees respectively. Such fun-filled events are not only promoting the tradition and culture of the state but creating an insightful platform less
