Wherever I go, I seem to take the weather with me. It rained in the hills, in the sea, in the forests, in cities, in villages, but I did not expect it to rain in the desert. My first glimpse of rain in Jaisalmer was from my hotel room in Suryagarh, a palatial citadel. The stark landscape was drenched. I was warned not to step out as the roads were flooded and vehicles were getting stuck. I was prepared for the rains, but I was not prepared for flooding. Later, as the fury of the rains abated, I stepped out to see the rain swept villages experiencing the magic of the monsoons.
