Jaya Bachchan and Sridevi were among the bidders for high-octane saris, ghagras and anarkalis.
"We have a deep commitment to giving back," say couture designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla who presented their collection The Golden Peacock for charity at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai on October 7. Opening for Amazing Yards, an exhibition by India's all-woman trust Sahachari Foundation, the designer duo's collection represented their journey (close to 26 years now) in the fashion world.
The showcased looks were auctioned later in the evening, with proceeds going to St. Jude's India Childcare Centre in support of children with cancer.
Motifs inspired by the peacock were a constant in the collection, speckled with ensembles featuring jewel tones, Art Deco patterns, heavy mirror work and traditional embroideries.
