Steve Tikolo, Kenya's best batsman and former captain, was born on 25 June 1971 at Nairobi. Tikolo, who famously led Kenya to the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup and top-scored in Kenya's upset win over West Indies in the 1996 World Cup, played for Border in South Africa, had a first-class average of 48.24.
In 1997, Tikolo had made a brilliant 147 against Bangladesh in the ICC Trophy Final.
Tikolo scored 3421 runs, including three centuries and 24 half-centuries, in his 134 ODIs for Kenya. He retired at the end of Kenya's disappointing campaign in the 2011 World Cup.
