Islamabad, June 3 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that he was 'not aware' of any agreement between the government of Pakistan and the US administration regarding drone strikes in Pakistan.
Zardari said Pervez Musharraf could have made some sort of agreement with the US, but insisted that the Pakistan People's Party-led government had not struck any deal with the US on drones operation, reports The Nation.
Pakistan has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives, have human rights and humanitarian implications and violate the principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law.
The US, however, maintain that drone strikes are necessary to eliminate terrorists in the tribal region. (ANI)
