New Delhi: Jatin Chaudhary, who claimed to be physiotherapist of cricketer Yuvraj Singh and other sportspersons, will finally be booked by the Delhi Police for his alleged fraudulent activities.
A city court has directed the Mukherjee Nagar Police tation to register a complaint against Chaudhary, filed by the Delhi Medical Council (DMC). The medical regulatory authority
had to move court as the Police had failed to proceed against Chaudhary, despite repeated requests by the council during the past one year. Chaudhary’s activities were highlighted in MAIL TODAY in the edition dated February 16, 2012.
The DMC and the Delhi Medical Association had written to the Police about Chaudhary, pointing out that he was using the prefix ‘Dr’ on his letterhead and website despite being only a physiotherapist, and was also prescribing allopathic drugs. The police were given necessary proof including prescriptions written by him, but he was given a clean chit by them.
After this, the council approached the court.
The council, in its complaint, contended that anyone practicing allopathic system of medicine should possess necessary qualifications and needs to be registered with it.
“From the contents of complaint, prima facie cognizable offences are made out. The police is directed to register an FIR and investigate as per law”, the court order said.
“It is a case of quackery and should be dealt with as per provisions of the criminal code,” an official of the council said.
