New Delhi: Detractors might have raised questions about Yuvraj Singh’s swift return to the Indian team, but friends and India teammates have continuously egged him on in what was the toughest phase in his life.
Irfan Pathan said he was not only happy to see Yuvraj doing well, but was also confident that the Yuvraj of old would be back soon. “It was a pleasure to hear about his feat. It’s great that he is back playing the longer format of the game. I must say the hunger in him is outstanding, especially after what he has been through,” Irfan told MAIL TODAY from South Africa.
“I have no doubt that he will be back to ruling international cricket. I am bowlers once again.”
Fast bowler Varun Aaron, who trained with Yuvraj at the National Cricket Academy, feels the knock is testament to his resolve. “I’ve been witness to Yuvi bhai’s training at the NCA... and I can say he’s worked against odds after cancer to score a double, just a month after his comeback. It is testimony to his hard work, determination and grit,” he said.
Ishant Sharma, who is playing with Yuvraj for North Zone, said it was a treat to watch him bat. “It was an absolute joy watching Yuvraj get the double. A great comeback, it was truly magnificent. It feels like Diwali has come early this year,” he told MAIL TODAY.
