Yahoo wins court battle to declassify documents regarding fight against Prism 'snoop-op'

London, July 17 (ANI): Internet Corporation Yahoo has won the legal battle for publishing its arguments against the alleged US led NSA Prism programme.

Yahoo's victory will result in documents from a key 2008 court case declassified and published in which the company had vehemently opposed the Prism program in letting the NSA gather data on web use, BBC reports.

According to the report, Yahoo had filed papers with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), seeking permission to publicise the documents it had filed in the original case and the government's response.

The US government has been given until 29 July to convey how long will it need to prepare the documents for publication.

Yahoo said that the release of the documents would 'contribute constructively to the ongoing public discussion around online privacy'.

The report further added that the US government has not filed any objections to the plan to disclose the court documents but will review the papers before publication so that it can redact information it does not want published. (ANI)
