Yahoo strikes deal to run ads from Google

Washington, Feb 7 (ANI): Embattled Internet firm Yahoo has a deal to have Google serve up advertising on some of its websites.

Yahoo said in a statement it recently signed a nonexclusive agreement that will have Google displaying ads on unspecified Yahoo Web properties 'and certain co-branded sites' using Google's ad programs for both traditional computers and mobile devices.

Those programs serve up ads that are related to the content on a particular site, Fox News reports.

Yahoo said in a statement that with the new deal the firm would be able to expand its network, and serve users with ads that are even more meaningful.

According to the report, Yahoo and Google have long competed in the market for online search advertising, and Yahoo has formed a partnership with Microsoft Corp, that has the two companies effectively teaming up to try to counter Google's dominance in that market.

More recently, Google has also become a heavyweight in Yahoo's core business of display advertising, the report added. (ANI)
