London, July 7 (ANI): With national hopes pinned on Andy Murray to win Britain's first Wimbledon title since Fred Perry in 1936, tickets for the final have gone up to 70,000 pounds for a pair, breaking all previous records at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
According to The Guardian, ticket resale site, Viagogo reported that prices had risen by 412 percent overnight, while expecting that the asking price would go still higher.
However, authorities at Wimbledon stopped several spectators from entering the grounds after they bought tickets that were being resold by the site, with Viagogo claiming that it was perfectly legal to resell such tickets in the UK because they were from debenture holders, the report said.
The report added that the situation regarding touting is complicated at Wimbledon by the fact that debenture holders are allowed to resell their seats while ordinary ticket holders are forbidden from doing so. (ANI)
