Will be tough in Calcutta: Misbah

Misbah said his fast bowlers did a fantastic job after winning a crucial toss.

Chennai: Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq on Sunday praised Mahendra Singh Dhoni for scoring a fine century under difficult conditions.

“It was difficult to bat in the first half of the match. Not always does one get to play one-day games in such conditions. There was moisture on the wicket but still Dhoni batted very well."

“There was a time when we thought India would be all out for 125 or so, but Dhoni almost took the match away from us. Overall, India gave us a good fight. It will be a tough match in Calcutta and we will have to improve,” said Misbah after Pakistan completed a six-wicket victory.

“We have to improve our fielding, especially in the death overs and during Powerplay. Our batting will also have to be better.”

The Pakistan captain said it was mainly because of Nasir Jamshed’s batting that his team won. However, Misbah was not ready to compare Jamshed with Saeed Anwar.

“Jamshed batted absolutely brilliantly… it was a very fine knock. He is very fit and works a lot on his fitness… Saeed Anwar was a great batsman. Jamshed will still have to do a lot to improve his batting… Azhar Ali also did a good job… he played when bowlers were getting lot of swing.”

Misbah said his fast bowlers — Junaid Khan and Mohammed Irfan — did a fantastic job after winning a crucial toss.

“It was a good toss to win. It was an excellent spell by Junaid. He has done it before in a Test match in Sri Lanka. The conditions were favourable for him and we expected him to deliver. He did not let us down and played a key role in victory.”
