White House calls boycotting Russian Winter Olympic over Snowden issue 'bad idea'

Washington, July 18 (ANI): The Obama administration has said proposal to boycott next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, if the Russian government gives Edward Snowden asylum, is 'not a good idea'.

The proposal was given by Senator Lindsey Graham, who said that the US to should boycott the games if

Russia went ahead in giving asylum to the NSA whistleblower.

According to Politico, White House press secretary Jay Carney conceded that boycotting the games was a 'bad idea'.

Snowden renewed his appeal to stay in Russia, where he's been at the Moscow airport for weeks.

The Russians know Snowden has been charged with crimes that should have him returned, Carney said.

H added that he believes there's enough time to reach a settlement before the torch is lit at the Opening Ceremonies in February 2014, the report added. (ANI)
