Weighing more than your hubby can lead to more domestic fights

London, Jan 25 (ANI): Mixed-weight couples argue more than same-weight couples, a new study has claimed.

Researchers from the University of Puget Sound in Washington and the University of Arizona found that of 43 heterosexual couples most conflict occurred when the woman was heavier than the man, the Daily Mail reported.

The recent study found that when overweight person felt their partner supported their efforts to get fit and adopt a healthy lifestyle the conflict was mitigated.

In an unscientific survey including more than 1,500 respondents, Today.com reported that 55 percent agreed that weight differences caused problems in their relationship.

Researchers said that they don't know if a weight difference causes couples to argue more, or underlying conflict results in one partner to eating more and becoming overweight.

Their results revealed that when just the man was overweight, couples reported no more conflict than same-weight couples.

The findings are published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. (ANI)
