Murshidabad (WB), July 21 (ANI): Three Congress and one Trinamool Congress supporters were killed in a clash in West Bengal's Murshidabad district ahead of the fourth phase of panchayat polls to be held tomorrow.
According to television reports, two Congress workers died when they were hit by crude bombs hurled by rival party supporters at Kapasdanga under Beldanga Police Station of Murshidabad district late last night, while another party worker met a similar fate at Bharatpur during a clash between rival party supporters.
Violence and deaths have marked the five-phase panchayat elections in the politically-volatile state, ruled by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, since the voting began on July 11.
The first three phases were held on July 11, 15 and 19. Polling for the next two rounds will be on July 22 and 25. Votes will be counted on July 29. (ANI)
