Wayne Parnell surrenders to Mumbai court

Cricketer granted bail for alleged consumption of drugs

South African cricketer Wayne Parnell  today surrendered before the Mumbai Sessions court. Parnell was an accused in last year's Juhu rave party case during the IPL 5 season.

The court granted him bail against a bond of Rs. 10,000.

The police had raided a party at Oakwood May hotel in suburban Juhu in May last year and rounded up 86 people for alleged consumption of drugs. During the raid, the police had also seized 110 grams of cocaine and MDMA from the hotel.

Last month, the Mumbai Police filed a chargesheet in the case, charging leg-spinner Rahul Sharma, who featured briefly in the Indian team, with drug use at the party and also naming  Wayne Parnell as the absconding accused in the case.
