Sydney, Nov 6 (ANI): Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is reportedly back in contention for the winter Ashes series after scans revealed only a low grade muscle strain of his injured hamstring.
Watson is likely to be ruled out of a domestic Sheffield Shield game next week, which could mean he enters the first Test against England on November 21 without a first class match under his belt this summer.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Cricket Australia (CA) released a statement confirming Watson's positive chances for the Ashes, although Australia's physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said that Watson's chances of being fit for the Ashes opener now hinge on how he responds to 'intense treatment and rehabilitation' later this week.
Kountouris further said that the doctors will be assessing the player on a daily basis and are expecting to have a clearer picture of his progress later in the week. (ANI)
