As the IPL tamasha carries on, besides the big hits, killer deliveries and thrilling finishes, there is some comic relief on offer too.
Case in point: the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Lions on Sunday. After Hyderabad’s Moises Henriques defended a ball, Gujarat's Basil Thampi dived to stop it. What followed had the batting side and the spectators cracking up.
As Thampi lunged to stop the ball in the middle of the pitch, his right shoe came off.
Sunrisers’ captain David Warner, who was at the non-striking end, began running to get a single, when he suddenly stopped to pick up the shoe. Handing it back to Thampi, Warner went on to complete the single!
At the sight, the Sunrisers players in the dugout and the spectators broke into laughter. Henriques, though, who had been busy completing the single, was left wondering what this was all about.
