Usually this time of the year, you see Wasim Akram in the purple and gold jersey sitting in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) dugout during the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been KKR’s bowling coach for a long time but now is set to don a new role. The Sultan of Swing is set to take over as Careem’s CEO for a day — April 16, 2017. He will also act the company’s honorary CEO. The position will be more like the brand ambassador of the company.
Adding the former Pakistani cricketer on-board will only help the company gain more mileage. Junaid Iqbal, the company’s CEO revealed the same through a Facebook Live video, where Wasim was the guest.
It is not common for a former cricketer to don a corporate hat. The rumour mills had it and a picture of the contract did rounds in social media. Neither Wasim nor Careem confirmed the same till it was all revealed through Facebook Live. ALSO READ: Had Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul-Haq been hanged, spot-fixing would have been erased: Abdul Qadir
