It's been anxious few days for David Warner. The pintsized opener was highly doubtful for the first Test against India, starting here on Friday, with a fractured thumb proving to be his nemesis.
However, after a two-hour net session at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday, Warner let out a smile. The left-hander had come out of facing pace bowlers unscathed and is on road to play the opening Test.
"I'm very confident of playing the first Test. I have had four long days of training. I have been hitting for an hour in the nets to make sure I middle the ball and to see if there is any pain if I go on. It's a little sour. I would be using a guard to protect my thumb in the Tests. So I am 100% ready to go for the first Test," Warner said on Tuesday.
His ability to destruct the bowlers — like he did with a blazing 159-ball 180 in Perth against India last year — will give the host bowlers nightmares and Australia comfort.
