Warm Send Off to Indian Contingent for World Police Games

New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): The Indian contingent bound for World Police Games 2013 was accorded a warm send off here today.

Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami handed over kits to each member of the contingent and National Flag to the leader of the team.

The 42-member team of Indian Police sportspersons would be departing from India on July 29 to take part in the 15th World Police and Fire Games 2013, which are being held at Belfast (Northern Ireland) from August 1 to 10.The team consists of 39 players ( 24 Men and 15 Women) and three officials.

The Indian team will participate in Athletics, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Swimming and Archery events. India has been regularly participating in every World Police Games since its inception in 1989.

The 29 member Indian Police team had won 32 gold, 16 silver and 6 bronze medals in the last World Police Games held in 2011 at New York in USA. (ANI)
