Sydney, June 12 (ANI): German carmaker Volkswagen has issued a recall of more than 25,000 cars sold in Australia owing to gearbox defects.
According to News.com.au, the cars affected by the mechanical faults were built between June 2008 and September 2011.
The recalled cars, which include Golf hatchback, the Jetta sedan, the Polo hatchback, the Passat sedan and wagon and the Caddy van, have complaints ranging from engines that conked out, high oil use, and gearbox issues.
According to the report, the automatic DSG gearbox will be inspected and repaired on the recalled batch of vehicles.
Volkswagen Australia is also expected to recall 4000 diesel cars for inspection.
The company has set up a dedicated customer service to help answer queries related to the issue and has asked owners to contact their local Volkswagen dealer if experiencing any fault, the report added. (ANI)
