New Delhi: Virender Sehwag is likely to play his first game for Delhi DareDevils in IPL-VI against Sunrisers Hyderabad, here, on Friday.
The opener did not play the first three matches due to back spasms, but has now recovered pretty well. He is expected to have a full-fledged training session on Thursday.
"He had a good session in Mumbai prior to our match against Mumbai Indians… In fact, he could have played. But he had some discomfort due to which we decided not to risk him. We don't want him to play one match and then miss the next few matches. I am hopeful that he will be playing our next match," DareDevils team mentor TA Sekar said at the team hotel.
Sehwag's absence has DareDevils' chances in the tournament as they have lost all the three matches so far.
The Sehwag-David Warner opening combination might prove to be lethal and is expected to perform much better than the Warner-Unmukt Chand duo.
For the record, Unmukt is in poor form. He got out off the first ball in two of his three innings thus far. With Manprit Juneja scoring 49 against Mumbai Indians in the last match, it will be difficult for the team thinktank to fit in the former under-19 India captain in the playing XI once Sehwag returns to action.
