Ever since news broke out about former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan’s engagement with Bollywood actress Sagarika Ghatge, social media world has been set ablaze. The pair has been congratulated by their teammates, colleagues and fans alike. Continuing his friendly banter from the field to the world of Twitter, Virender Sehwag wished his good friend and India teammate, Zaheer in his own unique manner. This is not the first time that has diverged himself into such social media banter. In a tweet sent out by Sehwag, he Zaheer’s fiancée Sagarika would not hit his friend with a hockey stick. Sagarika played a vital role in the 2004 Bollywood hit Chak de India based on women’s hockey. One of the songs in the movie has the lyrics Ek hockey dungi de rakhke, which was probably the inspiration of this tweet.

Not to be Zaheer not to be left behind, he replied Sehwag in witty manner, suggesting whether a hockey-stick should be gifted to Sehwag’s wife Aarti.

Earlier, Sagarika expressed shock and surprise over Zaheer’s sudden engagement proposal in an interview. She says the couple went to Goa during the break between the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 matches, where Zaheer proposed.
“It [the engagement] was a surprise for me too as it came right in the middle of the IPL season. We wanted to get away from the city as we had two days off in between matches. So he flew me to Goa for a day and that’s how the engagement happened,” beamed the delighted fiancée.
