After suffering a shoulder injury during the third Test between India and Australia at Ranchi, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli is likely to be back in action from the next match in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB stand-in captain Shane Watson dropped a hint that Kohli as well as AB de Villiers would be back for the next game. “They’ll be back for the next game,” said Watson during the post match ceremony after winning RCB’s second match of the tournament against Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs. However, when Sanjay Manjrekar asked Watson whether he is a reliable source or not, he replied by saying, “Probably no.” And that means, the duo are on a comeback trail but still the news is not confirmed yet. Even if Kohli is back from the next match onward, RCB’s local fans of Bangalore will have to wait to watch their captain play at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB will be playing their next IPL match at Indore against Kings XI Punjab. Kohli, who has remained away from action since the third Test against Australia, had earlier said he will only take the field when he is “120 per cent fit”.
Kohli has missed two matches so far in this IPL, and during his absence, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina took over as the leading run-getter of IPL, with an unbeaten 68-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match. Kohli, who has 4,110 runs to his name in IPL, is now 56 runs behind Raina. The GL skipper has now a total of 4,116 runs in IPL.
