Catches win matches and India saw two good ones pouched by their leading spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the Bangalore Test.
During the Australian first innings, as India searched desperately for wickets, Peter Handscomb flicked Ravindra Jadeja to mid-wicket, where Ashwin was stationed.
Ashwin appeared to have caught the ball cleanly at first glance, but the replays told a different story altogether.
The ball actually popped out of the off-spinner’s hands when he landed on the ground. It then fell back on his wrist, before rolling on to his forearm and shoulder. It was only after such drama that Ashwin was able to attain any control over the ball and claim the catch.
The 30-year-old was ecstatic at a job well done. Re-live his excitement in this video:
As the Australian first innings drew to a close on Monday morning, Ravindra Jadeja took a brilliant catch at the deep midwicket boundary to send back the dangerous Mitchell Starc, whose lusty blows were threatening to swell the visitors’ lead.
So, which catch do you think was better?
