Verdict? Pitch perfect!

Ranchi, Jan. 25: Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Prakash Tatia today "benched" his tie and coat on the JSCA stadium immortalised by Team Dhoni's ODI stellar win against England on January 19 and got down to some serious cricketing action.

The event? Final match of High Court Premier League, where Warriors XI notched up a 4-wicket victory over Jharkhand XI in the T20 format.

But before giving away the prizes, Tatia and judges D.N. Patel, R.R. Prasad and Aparesh Kumar Singh decided to claim the pitch and become men of the match.

Wielding the willow, Tatia didn't flinch when a dot ball hurt his knee. He hit some fine knocks and also bowled later.

Prasad, an "avid cricketer" in college, proved he had not lost his touch, bowling in perfect line and length.

People cheered loudly for the 25-minute extra innings, a fitting finale to the eight-team league for high court employees, hosted by Jharkhand High Court Sports Association.

Jharkhand XI won the toss and decided to bat. But they were washed out for 94 runs in 18 overs. Warriors XI made 95 runs in 19 overs, winning by four wickets. Nirmal of Warriors XI, who took four wickets, was the Man of the Match.

Fans would however give the crown to Tatia for his sporting spirit.
