US Republican fears 'attack on family' for voting against House Speaker Boehner

New York, Jan 9 (ANI): A US Republican has claimed that Washington insiders will "punish" him and "attack" his family after he voted against John Boehner for House Speaker last week.

Congressman Tim Huelskamp of Kansas was one of a dozen House Republicans who voted against Boehner or abstained from voting altogether during a House vote last week.

Huelskamp wrote in a fundraising email obtained by The Hill that the insiders would 'punish him, and attack his family,' adding that 'America is too important to be lost to overspending, high taxes, and big government, and he refuses to stand by and allow the country to be destroyed'.

According to the new York Daily News, he went on to ask his supporters for 35 dollars apiece to help him fight off the alleged attacks.

Huelskamp was photographed on the House floor with an iPad showing the names of a group of conservatives who may have been part of an organized effort to bring down the Speaker, the report said.

It was unclear, however, if those on the list were aware they were being recruited for the campaign, it added. (ANI)
