Washington, Aug. 10 (ANI): The US State Department has announced that its embassy in Yemen will continue to remain closed amid a sustained terror threat from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Washington has however said that 18 of the 19 U.S. embassies and consulates, that were closed in the Middle East and Africa due to a terrorist threat will reopen on Sunday, the BBC reports.
In addition to this, the American Consulate in Lahore, which was closed on Friday due to a separate terror threat, will also remain closed, the report added.
The move comes after U.S. intelligence agencies had intercepted Al Qaeda messages about plans for a major terror attack in Yemen.
Earlier, 19 state missions had been closed, and most American employees at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen were ordered to leave the country on Tuesday.(ANI)
