Washington, July 22 (IANS) US breezed past El Salvador 5-1 to book their berth in the semifinals of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The five goals came from five different players, including Landon Donovan, who had been kept out of the US national team for about one year, reports Xinhua.
"I think Landon proved again today how valuable he is and how he can make a difference," said US coach Jurgen Klinsmann after the win Sunday.
It was the ninth straight international victory for the US team.
The team would meet Honduras in the semifinals. Honduras defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in the other match Sunday.
