New Delhi, Aug. 14 (ANI): The UPA launched the second phase of 'Bharat Nirman', its multimedia campaign, with a video in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said that this UPA campaign was different from the BJP's 'India Shining' campaign, which was launched by the NDA prior to the 2004 General Elections because 'Bharat Nirman' tells the true story of India under the UPA regime.

Tewari stressed that social cohesion, political stability, internal security and international relations have made immense progress under the UPA.

The minister said that the multimedia campaign was only a small glance over the silent revolution that had taken place in the country during the UPA regime, in which people have been continuously empowered through a rights-based institutional structure.

Tewari added that schemes like the Food Security scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and Aadhar identification cards have empowered the people of the country in a unique way.

Defending the UPA regime, Tewari admitted that there have been glitches on the economic front but the overall tenure of over nine years shows an incredible growth rate of 8.2 percent in the 11th Year Plan, even when the global economies were witnessing a meltdown.

'Bharat Nirman' is an initiative by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and aims to promote and showcase the schemes of the UPA Government in an audio-visual format.

The second-phase of the campaign has been titled 'Glimpses of the India story.'

According to reports, the second-phase will look to reach out to a wider public by using social media, electronic media and the regional press.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has reportedly roped in filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, best known as the Director of Bollywood film 'Parineeta' (2005), to shoot the clips for the UPA's multimedia campaign.

The audio-video clips are expected to play out on television channels and cinema halls within a few days. (ANI)
