London, Jan. 9 (ANI): Britain's Ministry of Defence is ill-prepared for cyber attacks and the future of modern warfare, the Commons Defence Select Committee chair James Arbuthnot has warned.
A report by the Commons defence committee concluded that today the military is so dependent on computers and information technology that a sustained cyber attack could make weapons and even entire combat units useless.
According to the Telegraph, speaking as the report was published, James Arbuthnot, Tory MP for North East Hampshire and committee chairman, said that as per their view cyber security is a sufficiently urgent, significant and complex activity to warrant increased ministerial attention.
He said that the government needs to put in place mechanisms, people, education, skills, thinking and policies, which take into account both the opportunities and the vulnerabilities that cyberspace presents, the report added. (ANI)
