London, June 22 (ANI): British bookies reportedly face a record ten million-pound payout if British tennis ace Andy Murray wins at the Wimbledon.
The Olympic gold medallist, who is 3-1 second favourite behind Serbian ace Novak Djokovic at 5-4, is ahead of Spaniard Rafael Nadal at 4-1, and Swiss Roger Federer, the defending champ, at 13-2, the Daily Star reports.
According to the report, British gaming company Ladbrokes alone would give up one million pounds should the World No. 2 win.
Stating that they have already staked 250,000 pounds on Wimbledon, Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Donohue said that if Murray looks to be on the way to the final, then there would be a payout of ten million pounds across the UK betting industry.
However, the report said that not everyone is backing Murray, with one punter piling 80,000 pounds on Djokovic to win the title at 7-4 earlier this week, before his odds were cut.
The US Open champion could face either Federer or Nadal in the semis and World No1 Djokovic in the final, the report added. (ANI)
