Typhoon Usagi affects multiple flights in China

Beijing, Sep 22 (IANS) More than 100 flights between southern China's coastal regions have been cancelled due to super typhoon Usagi, one of the most powerful storms this year, Air China said Sunday.

The airliner said it has cancelled 148 flights departing from and arriving in the cities of Xiamen, Shantou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao, reports Xinhua.

China Southern Airlines said it has cancelled all flights to and from Hong Kong and flights arriving at Shantou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Usagi is forecast to hit south China's Pearl river delta between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

It will bring strong storms to the east of Taiwan and the coastal areas of Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, according to the National Meteorological Centre.
