Washington, Sept. 26 (ANI): Twitter is reportedly launching an alerts feature, which will allow users to receive emergency notices as text messages.
The alerts will be made available from the American Red Cross, the Centers for Disease Control, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal and local groups.
According to Fox News, the service is launched for US users, and once they sign up to receive Twitter alerts from one of these groups, they will get a text message notification whenever the group sends a tweet marked as an alert.
The microblogging site said that the alerts will be marked with an orange bell icon to differentiate them from regular tweets.
The report said that Twitter had launched a similar service called 'lifeline', last year in Japan. (ANI)
