Twitter account of Burger King hacked, profile logo changed to rival McDonald's icon

Washington, Feb 19 (ANI): The Twitter account of food giant Burger King had been anonymously hacked, changing the profile picture of the corporation to a McDonald's logo and posting offensive tweets.

According to the Burger King management, the tweets stopped after an hour following which Burger King contacted Twitter to suspend its account, Fox News reports.

The incident started when an anonymous hacker tweeted via Burger King's account as 'We just got sold to McDonalds!' and changed the company's logo to rival McDonald Corp.'s golden arches and the account's background picture to McDonald's new food item Fish McBites.

According to the report, there were also many racially offensive messages among the tweets.

According to Bryson Thornton, a spokesman for Miami-based Burger King Worldwide Inc, no other social media accounts were affected, and they hope to have the Twitter account working soon.

Thornton added that burger King will post a statement soon to apologize for the tweets. (ANI)
