Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif took to Twitter on 25 March to share his views on the events that have unfolded after Yogi Adityanath took over as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
His tweet about the tunday kabab row, has been retweeted over 5,000 times:
Tunday milein ya na milein,Gundein na milein! Will be happy to see No Gunday in UP.All illegal stuff must be stopped.Good moves #UPshouldgoUP— Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) March 25, 2017
Kaif contested the 2015 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh. He polled less than a lakh votes (58,127) and lost the seat to Keshav Prasad Maurya of the BJP (5,03,564).
Interestingly, Maurya was a top contender for the position of UP CM before Adityanath was appointed to the top job.
Kaif had earlier congratulated Yogi Adityanath on his win and had urged his followers to wish the new CM well.
Everyone has an opinion, but rather than speculating, the best we should do is wish the newly formed govts. good luck for India's progress 1/2— Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) March 19, 2017
I convey my best wishes to @yogi_adityanath ji for taking UP on the path of development and ensuring a great future for the people of UP 2/2— Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) March 19, 2017
Mohammed Kaif may have given up on politics but he’s still a regular on the domestic Indian cricket circuit. Earlier this month, he played the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Chattisgarh.
He has also been signed on by Gujarat Lions as a part of their support staff for the IPL next month.
