Torres vows to oust Samuel Eto'o as Chelsea's top striker

London, Sept 28 (ANI): Chelsea player Fernando Torres has vowed to oust Samuel Eto'o to become the club's first preference as striker for the current English Premier League season.

According to Metro.co.uk, Torres was over-looked by new Blues boss Jose Mourinho following the arrival of Eto'o over the summer; with the 32-year-old the Special One's preferred option in attack.

However, after bagging a goal and turning in an impressive performance against Swindon Town in the Capital One Cup this week, Torres believes he can win the battle to be first choice, the report said.

He said that Chelsea had a great squad with great strikers who can all score goals, adding that he wants to play more but it was nice to have the competition.

Torres added that they were all fighting to be in the lineup and to be in the squad, adding that it was not easy but it was good for the improvement of the team.

He said that there were players who had not been involved in the last few matches and the passion and character was plain to see.

The 29-year-old bagged 22 goals last season in 64 matches, and played his part in helping the Blues win the Europa League crown, the report added.

He said that the main thing was that Chelsea should keep winning, adding that they were in the top four in the Premier League and moved one step forward in the Capital One Cup, which was a good position to be in. (ANI)
