10 things to know about Corey Anderson

Meet the man who broke Afridi's record of a 37-ball hundred.

Corey Anderson savours setting the record for the fastest ODI ton on new year's day 2014.

Corey Anderson will be remembered for a long time to come for breaking Shahid Afridi‘s 18-year-old record of the fastest century in one-day internationals. Anderson achieved the feat against West Indies today in just 36 balls. In his entire innings of 131* off 47 deliveries, he hit as many as 14 sixes and 6 fours.

But who is Corey Anderson? Here are a few facts about him:

1. Corey Anderson received a playing contract from New Zealand Cricket in 2007, making him the youngest player in New Zealand first-class cricket history to gain a contract.

2. Anderson made his one-day debut against England on 16th June 2013.

3. Anderson made his Test debut against Bangladesh at Chittagong on 9th October 2013.

4. His nickname is ‘Coza’.

5. Shane Bond is the one cricketer he admires the most.

6. ‘Getting to travel to different places in New Zealand’, he thinks is the best thing about a professional cricketer.

7. Seddon Park, Hamilton is his favorite stadium.

8. ‘Winning the State Championship in 07/08 season and playing the Under 19 World Cup semi final in 2008′, he thinks is his career highlight so far. Of course, that was before he hit the fastest century in the ODIs.

9. Anderson was named joint Player of the Gillette Cup in 2006; he shared the honour with current Black Cap Tim Southee.

10. And the last one is perhaps the most interesting. He can only hear 5% out of his left ear.
