Tina Ambani deposes Delhi Court, says has no role in affairs of Reliance ADAG

New Delhi, Aug. 23 (ANI): Anil Ambani's wife Tina Ambani, who today appeared as a prosecution witness in the 2G spectrum case, told a special court that she had 'no role' in the affairs of Reliance ADAG.

"I have no role in Reliance ADAG as I am a housewife, run a hospital...I have never been associated with any Reliance ADAG company," she told Special CBI Judge O. P. Saini.

Fifty five-year-old Tina Ambani appeared before the Delhi Court a day after her husband and Reliance ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani's deposition as a CBI witness.

Anil Ambani yesterday deposed before a Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court as a witness in the 2G case, after the court dismissed Reliance Telecom Ltd's (RTL) plea for postponement of his testimony.

On Wednesday, the court had dismissed RTL's plea for postponement of examination of additional witnesses - Anil Ambani and his wife Tina - in the 2G case, saying no prejudice would be caused to any accused by their deposition.

The RTL had not got any relief from the Supreme Court either, which had declined to pass any order on its plea for stay of trial court's direction summoning Mr. Ambani and other witnesses in the 2G case.

On August 17, RTL had approached the special CBI court with the plea that it should "await" outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings on their petition challenging summoning of additional witnesses in the case, before examining Mr. Ambani and Ms. Tina Ambani.

The trial court, in its July 19 order, had said CBI's plea to summon the Ambani couple and 11 others as prosecution witnesses was essential for arriving at a just decision in the case.

The court had summoned Ambani for August 22 to record his statement in the case. Tina Ambani has been summoned on August 23 to depose as a witness.

RTL, along with others, including former Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi, is facing trial in the 2G case. (ANI)
