Tim Cook says Apple not in 'junk business'

Johannesburg, Sept. 20 (ANI): Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that the company is not competing in the 'junk' segment of the electronic market.

The CEO said that there is always a large junk part of the market and Apple is not in such a business.

According to News24, Apple unveiled its latest iPhones last week and Cook said that he remains unfazed by the company's eroding share of the smartphone market.

He said that there is a segment of the market that really wants a product that does a lot for them, and he wants to compete like crazy for those customers.

The report said that the latest iPhones have drawn criticism over their prices, especially the plastic-body version, touted to be a low-cost iPhone, which will sell for 549 dollars in the US and higher in China and other markets, where carrier subsidies are rare.

Cook further added that Apple's primary objective is to sell a great phone and provide a great experience, and they have figured out a way to do it at a lower cost. (ANI)
