Guwahati: Retaining the title comfortably, West Zone captain Parthiv Patel termed the victory a team effort.
"It was team effort. Everybody chipped in," the wicketkeeper-batsman said, here on Wednesday.
"The foundation was built when our bowlers scalped three vital wickets in the second PowerPlay for only 33 runs. Though our fielding left a lot to be desired early in the innings, it was made up later on," he added.
"It was a good target to chase though the ball was turning a bit. Our batsmen adapted well to the conditions and we played a cool game. (Ambati) Rayudu played a brilliant innings. It was good to win the toss and, I think, we took the right decision."
Opponent captain Gautam Gambhir, who hurried to catch the evening flight back home, felt some of the key batsmen did not click for North. "Some of us could not score," he said. "Our fast bowlers also could not bowl up to the mark today," he added.
Though he supported the decision to open with Parvez Rasool, Unmukt Chand said: "I am not aware of what made the captain do so. But, it appears, the strategy worked till the wicket became completely flat."
Man of the Match Rayudu said playing his natural game helped him.
