All your queries about how to file income tax returns and such other details will be answered right at your doorstep.
From the second week of this month, the Dhanbad income tax department will roll out a mini-van that will make its way to various parts of the district to apprise residents about the benefits of timely and proper payment of taxes. The van, which will have an income tax officer and an official to prepare tax returns on board, will also have a demonstrative kiosk that will show how an individual can access his or her income tax profile by logging into www.incometaxindia.gov.in.
"An executive of software giant IBM will be on board the vehicle that will start out from the office of income tax department on Luby Circular Road. He will offer a demonstration of how to access details of income tax records on the government website," said income tax commissioner of Dhanbad Rajiv Sinha, who presided over a departmental meeting on tax collection on Monday.
He added that the mobile van would tour the district round the year, particularly such areas and markets where concentration of shops and commercial institutions is more so that they could reach out to maximum number of people.
"The aim of the drive is to make people aware that payment of income tax on time will only do them good. Officials on board the van will also carry handbills and posters highlighting the benefits of timely tax payment and the easy way through which it can be done," Sinha said.
The district income tax department is also planning to invite residents and businessmen to Aykar Seva Kendra at Dhanbad income tax office to lodge their grievances vis--vis services provided. The complaints will be redressed within 15 days.
"First, we will invite office-bearers and members of Dhanbad chamber of commerce to Aykar Seva Kendra during the second week of January. They will be able to learn about the benefits of having such a centre in the district," Sinha said.
