Calcutta, Jan. 18: Calcutta High Court today directed the Burdwan police chief to provide special security to the widow and daughter of slain CPM leader Pradip Tah.
"The superintendent of police of Burdwan will have to provide special security to the widow and daughter. A picket should be set up in front of their house. This court also directs the ACJM of Burdwan to record the statements of both the ladies under Section 164 of the CrPC," Chief Justice A.K. Mishra said.
Tah was killed along with another CPM leader, Kamal Gayen, in February last year by suspected Trinamul activists.
Chitralekha told the high court today: "Whenever we come out of home, Trinamul-backed youths on motorcycles pass lewd comments and threaten to kill us."
"The investigating officer did not take any statement from us on my husband's murder," she added.
