Johannesburg, Feb 7 (ANI): Tablets have accounted for one-third of the global computer sales during the fourth quarter of 2012, according to a recent survey.
The survey conducted by research firm Canalys said that tablet sales increased to 46.2 million units to an overall 75 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012, bringing the full-year total to 114.6 million, News24 reports.
Canalys added that with the combined sales of PCs and tablets, the market grew 12 percent year-on-year in the last three months to reach 134 million units.
Apple led the market with a sale of 27 million units and a 20 percent market share, with the sale of its iPads and other computers, beating Hewlett-Packard, which was placed second with 15 million units, the survey said.
According to the report, 3 percent of tablets shipped in the quarter used a Microsoft operating system despite the launch of the new Surface and other Windows-based tablets. (ANI)
