South Australia coach backs Arthur's 'four player' dump from Mohali Test

Sydney, Mar 14 (ANI): The coach of the domestic South Australian team has backed Australian coach Mickey Arthur's dumping of four players from the Mohali Test for failing to complete their homework.

Darren Berry, who had opposed the dumping of off-spinner Nathan Lyon from the Hyderabad Test, said that he highly rated the player feedback process drawn up by Arthur that axed vice-captain Shane Watson, speedsters James Pattinson and Mitchell Johnson, and batsman Usman Khawaja failed to observe, reports.

Supporting the stance taken by captain Michael Clarke and Arthur, Berry, who claims to be from the old-school of cricket, said that the decision was necessary in order to maintain Australia's hardline approach to discipline.

Berry further said that although the penalty looks harsh, it has been explainedthat there is a continuing history of not delivering the standards expected of an Australian cricketer.

According to Berry, although his team does not do homework, they undergo debriefings, thoughts and presentations on how the team can do better and constantly look for feedback. (ANI)
